Quiz Night

Join us at our popular quiz nights and show off your general knowledge with the opportunity to win cash prizes of £10 and £5.

The Quiz Night is held twice a month on Mondays from 7pm – 9pm with the next sessions taking place on 10th Feb and 24th Feb.

£3, drop-in.

 

 

Knit and Natter

Bring along your knitting to our friendly weekly knitting club where you can make new friends, enjoy conversation and learn more about knitting or share your knitting skills with others. Everyone is welcome – bring your knitting or just come along for the company, cup of tea and a natter.

Sessions take place every Thursday 10am – 12pm.

£2, drop-in.

Whitburn a Capella Choir

Don't fall apart…come join Whitburn a Capella Choir and increase your serotonin with singing! No solos, stress or singing experience needed.

Sessions are held every Tuesday at Whitburn Library 7.15 – 8.45pm.

This is an external event that is not organised by the library.  For further details either come along to a Tuesday evening session to give it a try, with the first session free to attend; or direct message Whitburn a Capella Choir.

Book Club

Monthly reading group open to all with opportunity to connect and share discussions themed around a different book each month. Books for the club are provided by the library.

Sessions take place every first Monday in the month 2pm-3pm.

£3, speak with Whitburn Library in advance of attending the session.

 

 

Whitburn and Marsden Ward Surgery

Opportunity to meet councillors representing the Whitburn and Marsden wards on South Tyneside Council. The Ward Surgery runs fortnightly on Thursday afternoons from 3.30 – 4.30pm.

Writers Group

If you write or would like to try your hand at writing short stories, poems, or something more ambitious, then you are welcome to come along to our small, friendly, informal meetings where you will receive feedback, support and encouragement.  The group meets on Mondays from 6.30 – 8.30pm approximately every four weeks. The next meeting is on February 10th. This is an external event that is not organised by the library. Memory Cafe 

No longer running.

We have sadly had to discontinue our Memory Cafe afternoons, due to dwindling attendance. The library continues to be a dementia friendly environment, and all are always welcome to drop in for a hot beverage and a friendly atmosphere.

Valentine's Wine Tasting

 

Join our knowledgeable sommelier Geoff in sampling some of the best wines available, from around the world. 

Learn more about the grape varieties used, good food pairings, and decide which of the selection is your own favourite!

Bring two glasses.

Tickets £20 per person.

Booking in advance is advised, as spaces are limited.

Upcoming Talks

We have an exciting and varied season of talks scheduled for the new year, commencing with the ever popular Derek Potter on Monday 3rd March, speaking on the topic of Imperial India. 

 

Talks are held on Monday evenings , usually the first monday of the month, with the exception of Bank Holidays. Starts 7pm. £3 per person.
